I’m almost always too lazy to post on this blog, so i added a Twitter widget on the right column. Let’s see if I’ll be too lazy to tweet as well. . .
Memories of Brasil
January 21, 2009
It’s been a year now since our epic trip to Brasil. I still miss the X-Burgers (cheeseburgers), woof woof caliente (hot dog), moqueca (seafood stew thing), feichuado (bean stew thing?), and all the fresh sucos (juices). The salsa and merengue dancing. Getting faca’d (held up at knifepoint) by teenagers. Riding atop a bloco in Carnaval (like riding in the Macy’s Day Parade, but a whole lot better). Crunching spreadsheets and working with Thiago and Pablo in Diagnostika. Sao Paulo, Rio, Ilhabela, and Salvador each held their unique flavors, but I do miss the carefree month I had with my fellow Sloan G-Lab team
Terremoto en Costa Rica
January 11, 2009
I visited New York for the first time in early 2000. Our seemingly unimportant decision at the time to go to the top of the World Trade Center instead of the Empire State Building became instantly impactful a year later the morning of 9/11.
Disaster struck again just a couple days ago. I had a great trip to Costa Rica in October, and I opted to visit a nearby waterfall named La Paz instead of hitting the beaches.
On Thursday, that powerful rush of beautiful natural water has now turned a very scary brown after a 6.2 earthquake rocked the area (they show the waterfall at 25 seconds in the video below)
Make sure you visit all the places I’ve visited before it’s too late :-/
Cal wins Emerald Bowl :)
December 28, 2008
I’m really glad that Cal ended up in the Emerald Bowl. I got to go to my first bowl game, hang out at a tailgate party, and walk to the game just one block from my apartment. Congrats to the Cal football team on a much better than expected season and a great win tonight!
Does anyone know what happened to Riley? I was surprised he didn’t start, and even more surprised he didn’t play at all. Longshore was subpar at best today, but at least he didn’t throw a pick-6. Hope we decide on ONE quarterback next season. Bridgford would be wishful thinking, but we’ll probably end up running Riley come August.
Warriors beat Celtics!
December 27, 2008
Wow! I’m still in a bit of disbelief that the Warriors beat the Celtics tonight. I’m of the opinion that the Warriors will never ever make it to the NBA Finals (or even the Conference Finals) under the Don Nelson regime because he doesn’t preach defense. Even so, today proved that any run and gun team that catches fire at the right time can beat the best team in basketball.
Side note – I downloaded a new iPhone app last night called Animoto. I can upload photos taken from my iPhone and put it to music in a slick video all from my cell phone! Check it out:
